Damn quality write up but thats pretty much everything not to do with bondo . That can crack from a small bump in the road and when it shrinks it will show . Bondo is not a structural filler .Its only good up to 1/8" thick . At least use fiberglass and mat .

you have been lucky . I have 8+ years experience working in autobody so i wasnt trying to be a douche . Probably should have mentioned that . Im just stating facts . You can ask any body filler manufacturer or auto body tech and they will say exactly what i said .Fiberglass or even better thermosetting plastic welding with fusor is a much better way to go and what we always have done at the shop . Also body filler only needs up to 30 min to cure before sanding and when mixing it you should always fold it with a speader ,mixing with a stick creates air bubbles .

Theres not enough pressure on the grill for a bump to crack it. Trust me it has been working for over two years and numerous grills with no issues. When i say numerous pretty much the whole site.

luck doesn't have much to do with it. we're talking about filling in a very small gap, and as discussed in the DIY, the bondo is reinforced with a piece of metal. and you don't exactly need a PhD to mix bondo and sand it down.

i appreciate your comments, but as was the case 2 years ago, lots of people on here wanted an emblemless grill yet none of the 'experts' on this site did anything to help people make them. marcus and i stepped up and wrote a DIY showing one way to do it. only then, did people like you, come out of the woodwork, not to help write a better DIY, but to try to tear apart what we had done. forgive me for being harsh, but i have much more respect for people who give up their time & money to help other users out (for free) than i do for monday morning quarterbacks who only show up to nitpick.

I used a slightly different method on mine (sold it to a friend). Since I have access to lots of different materials, I opted to cut plastic and shape it then epoxy it in place. Then a light layer of polyester putty. Its time consuming but it minimizes the risk of cracking since your bonding it and not "filling" it.

Ionic Dynamics also make an emblemless grill. And then you can always either sell yours or keep it around if you want to go back to stock.
