offset/wheel spacers question
offset/wheel spacers question
hey guys,
i just bought a 03 g35 coupe and im loving it. i had a srt4 sold it, 350z sold it, big turbo srt4 sold it, and now in a G. So smooth and comfortable!
Anyways, I have a set of 20 inch rims sitting around with 235/30/20 tires all around that are brand new that I think would look pretty nice on the G. The offset is +40. What size wheel offsets do you think would be good to make them look decent, clear the brakes. I was thinking 15 in the front, 20 in the back if thats enough? What brands are good, Ill spend the money for my safety. And also will this even work with 235/30's all around.
Thanks for your advice beforehand, Sorry if this is a noob question, just know more about turbos than offsets!

First off, congratulations on your new G.
Questions tho, to better aid you on your way of size spacers you need, you need to tell us a bit more.
Widths of your 20" wheels. You said you wanted to run 235/30's all around, so I'm assuming the wheels are not staggered.
Next, are you lowered or do you plan on lowering? If so, this will also affect what size of spacer we would recommend since you may need to roll your fenders depending on how low you wanna go.
+40 offsets for coupe wheels are EXTREMELY high, especially since the OEM 19" Rays have offsets in the 30's. I wouldn't even put those wheels on a Sedan, let alone a Coupe.
Edit: I just realized this is in the interior section. Should have posted this in the wheels / tires section for a better response.

If I lower it will be maybe an inch im not about dumping it and making the ride bad. Im not really sure of the widths but no they arent staggered. The wheels are Miror Alloy MR15's. The tires are already mounted on the wheels, so kind of hard to measure but I will email a distributor to see what they are unless you can find that out.

Well I couldn't find any information on your wheels, but if they are wrapped in 235/30 tires I'm going to assume that they are either 20x8.5, 20x9, or 20x9.5.
Either way, with +40 offsets you will be pretty tucked with these wheels. Normally, I would just recommend you buy different wheels with better offsets and specs, but not all of us have that luxury.
Anyways, if I had these specs for my car, I would run a 25mm or 30mm spacer all around. Ichiba V2 Hubcentrics are good or Project Kic spacers are good. I would check the venders in the market place on the forum and see if you could get a good deal. I would also highly recommend you get your rear fenders rolled as well, to prevent your tire rubbing in the back.

I'm going to go measure to find out the width. So a 30 series tire is going to rub in the rear stock height?? I guess I'll go with 25 MM all around with a hubcentric ring and see what happens.
@Eurowheels- If you'd trade for me for these rims sure. LOL. They are brand new too with Lexani tires. I just dont have any extra money after literally just buying this car

You weren't paying attention. I didn't say that because of your 30 series tire you will rub with your factory height. My statement clearly says that if you drop it, you will rub in the rear, not because of your 30 series tire... but because of your unrolled fender will rub into the sidewall of your tire. That is why I'm recommending you get your rear fenders rolled flat so you have more room for clearance with your wheels.

so before i spend the 230 bucks on wheel spacers and lugs. Will they for sure fit over my brakes and look decent. Ill probably stay stock height maybe lower a inch TOPS, roads in PA suck. I measured the rim with the tire on it, its either or 9 or 9.5 inches. I don't want to rub so if 25 is going to make it rub ill go with 15 or 20. Thanks for your help sorry, this is new to me

Yes, with the spacers they will fit over your brakes. Look decent, I don't know. When I did research on your wheels and saw what they really looked like, I wasn't impressed at all. But that is just my opinion though. Your car isn't mine and I don't make payments on your car, so I don't have any right to tell you how to mod it. I can only give you my opinion, and that is it.
If you don't want to roll your fenders and you're going to leave it stock height for awhile, stick with a 15mm or 20mm spacer. I would go with a 20mm spacer.
But if it were me, I would just roll my rear fenders flat and go with a 30mm spacer all around. This is mostly to prepare you for your drop later on. But that is me. That decision is up to you in the end.

thanks for your help. you have to know that i got these rims for a trade for stock srt wheels with tires. If I could get work or volk wheels i would but im only 22 about to graduate college and i feel like these will look decent. Is it difficult to roll the rear fender? Maybe Ill just order 20 for the front, 30 for the back?
i went ahead and got the ichiba version 2 wheel spacers @ 20 MM all around. hope theyre not too hard to install. Thanks for the help man! Pics to be posted when rims are installed
i just noticed the tires are 225/30/20 all around. I checked out a calculator for the front thats okay, its a 2.5% difference but in the back it says 5.1% difference. Is that going to hurt anything?
