Side mirror scratched - repaint vs touch up

Hi all,

Went out to my car (street parked) and found that my driver mirror was popped forward and was all scratched up. (about a 1/4 thick scratch running down the vertical height of the mirror on the inside edge (where the mirror meets the mirror cover). Anyways -- any thoughts on repainting the mirror (anyone know how much this is $?) or if its something that can be touch-up painted without being noticeable (car is black, if it matters)

Thanks

touch up paint will help hide the scratch but upclose you will be able to tell.

Repaint is going to be perfect. Cost depends to what ever shop you go to.

I've been told www.drcolorchip.com more or less works the best for touch ups. Not sure if it will work best for the scratch you have, but might be worth checking out. Maybe someone else with more experience can chime in...

A few months back I broke off a piece of my driver side mirror while backing up into my garage. It wasn't a big piece, about 1 sq. inch., it was the bottom left hand corner. I took it to some local guy and charged me $90 to paste the part back on and re-paint the entire mirror with a color match. The final result was outstanding. Good as new. Paint looks identical and you can't even tell that it was broken once upon a time. Hopefully this helps for something.

Dr.Colorchip does a much better job than any other touch up paint, give it a try and if you're not satisified then have it repainted. No use spending $$ you don't need to if Dr. Colorchip will work for ya....

Any body shop should be willing to respray your mirror for $100 or so if you present it to them off your car.

Yeah I have used Dr Colorchip and loved it! I only regret not getting a larger size to touch up more of my car...
