My plans are the same. Totally disable the inner, rectangle array of LEDs, and have painted the whole chrome housing (except the chrome LED round shrouds and barrels).

Still considering whether to go with sequential turn signals...

the04coupe, got any videos of this?

Since I have been commenting and following this project since this was still in the pre-design phase, I feel like it's okay for me to point out the 80-pound gorilla in the room.

They are very close but still don't match OEM. Since the ring housing design is the same as the oem ring housing design, and the depth of each led insert was kept the same as the original ring, the only other variable to be considered is the difference in chroming.

The solution for someone who really wants PERFECT rings and is willing to shell out the extra cash would be to rechrome the factory led ring, so both oem and new ring housings have the same chrome finish done, thus reflecting the leds the same way. I believe then, the leds will finally match perfectly, and this fight to produce perfect dual ring tails will finally be beat.

Good job to both the04Coupe and G2Flip4, you guys are really stepping up the game with this project.

I don't think the chroming differences would make any visible differences in output.

I think however that it may appear the outer LEDs look brighter is that you have the same # of LEDs concentrated in a smaller diameter. So you may get what appears to be, more light intensity.

Also, the outer LEDs are sunken in more, so again, light output may appear to be a bit diff.

Have to see it in person to be the real judge.
