Phone Mount

I don't want to attach it to the windshield, and as I look at the available space on the dash area [I have the original built in pop up NAV system that makes it more difficult to find space] I can't decide on a good place to attach a mount for an iphone.

Any suggestions for a good mount and a good place to attach it to- somewhere where removing it will not leave damage from the suction cup.

that suction cup wont work for anything else besides a flat glossy surface. such as your windshield. you might have to come up with something to mount it inside your ashtray somehow.

I was looking at this, it has good reviews.

It mounts on the dash.

I just can't figure where it would have space, would be both visible to me and safe to do no damage to the surface to which it is attached.

ProClip hands down. Placement is perfect, doesn't wobble or move anywhere you don't want it to, and doesn't damage anything. I used it with my 3GS, and now with my iPhone 4. The set comes out about $65 shipped.

Oh, and every clip is model specific, so make sure you build the set for your G.

ProClip FTW! Love mine!

No, doesn't clip to the air vent. Clips exactly as shown on the ProClip USA website..

Here is the driver side mount.

And the passenger side mount.

I have the driver side mount. Doesn't interfere with vents or buttons for me.

Thanks. Wasn't even aware of them.

Only downside I see is that the only available location- by the ashtray- is somewhat lower then I would prefer.

I'm concerned with the safety of gazing so far down for what may be a too prolonged period- those apps that stream stock quotes can be very distracting and....I know.... probably dumb to have open when driving.

Why not get the driver side mount then? I don't like the position of the passenger side mount either.

What's the difference? Horizontally, they are on an even plane. Your gaze down may even be steeper when it's on the driver's side.

Even if it's for less then a second, if you are looking at the phone at either of those locations, your eyes are completely off the road.

Did you look at the pics Calvin posted? The driver side mount is higher than the passenger side. If you need it higher than that, you might need to get some type of suction mount then.

Yes, and it got me interested.

Unfortunately, the picture at the Proclip site - for my coupe- has both sides by the ashtray.
