Getting robbed on a brake install?

I'm getting Akebono brakes installed and my wheels switched out on my G35 coupe, and they quoted my $500. Am I getting butt raped here?

I understand that the akebono switch out will require cutting the dust shields but it still seems a little excessive. Any opinons would be welcome. Thanks.

That's a tad high if you're getting it done at a shop. I charge about half that. A fair price would be $3-400

Where are you located?

You're getting raped. I think.

Where'd the quote come from? Do you live in an area with a lot of choices for automotive/aftermarket shops?

My Ake's installed with bleeding, cutting dust shields, painting brake rotors & other assorted brake goodies was roughly ~$300-$350ish. I'm sure you can do better on price unless you live in like North Dakota.

I really hate when people ask for help and don't tell us where they live or what year, body style, transmission and drive-train they have on there vehicle. At least put it in the thread or in your sig or even in your garage. We can't help if you ask a questions with other pieces of information. Sure $500 sounds good if you live in Nunavut and can't do it your self.

I have an 07 g35 coupe AT. Im in the boston area with tons of body shops around, but this place apparently knows how to work on g coupes. Is the akebono install on a g coupe a very complicated process requiring a lot of skill or can i trust joe schmoe auto body down the street to do it properly?

It's an elementary big brake kit job/brake swap that isn't specialized to just Nissan/Infiniti-only shops or dealers. A good shop could do it in their sleep. Only thing to be aware of is the mounting bracket.

You'd be better off posting in your regional forums and ask around for recommendations or even a member who could do it for far cheaper.
