I just picked up a Kuruma bumper and got it painted. Before I install, I'd like to get some protection. Anyone have experience with clear bra on their aftermarket front bumper?

 

when you clear bra aftermarket bumpers you face two problems..

1. The bra is going to have to hand cut and custom done.. In socal there are a FEW places with people of this ability. You're probably looking at +$500 for the job at the cheapest.

2. Because the paint is not factory when you peel off the bra most likely you'll be taking paint with it so most likely you'll need to repaint it afterwards. I'm not saying this is 100% but this is usually the case..

I just got my KurumaZ with clear bra done not so long ago. It was hand cut and cost me 700 for the front. Overall the quality and fitment is soso, definitely not nearly as clean as when i had it done to my OEM with the precut pieces.

 

Do yo think it's worth it? The Kuruma is so dang low, I'm sure it'll get dinged up for sure. wondering if clear bra will help.

Another thought... once the clear bra is on there, you never wax that part, do you?

 

you can wax ect on clear bra just be careful with buffers bc the friction can burn the clear bra

 

I think it is worth it to clear bra any car that you love. Keeps the front of the car in good condition. The only thing that bothers me is the clearbra line and the way it alters the looks of the paint.

I've polished and waxed my clearbra before with a orbital tool many times before. Comes out nice, but residue does get caught at the line so you'll have to go over those parts by hand with a q-tip.

 

Doesn't just keep the front clean

If you go all the way and get the mirrors, splash guards front and rear, roof line near the windshield and door/trunk pulls along with the bumper keeps it alllll nice

 

If you plan to keep your car with oem stock pieces then it makes sense to get a clear bra as they have pre made cuts for the film to be applied to the car that will look better as opposed if an installer had to custom cut them.

If you plan to go aftermarket, then what Eric stated in his post will apply to you.

I had clear bra installed on my back in 2004 on my hood, mirrors and bumper (i went aftermarket in 2009) and they don't age well (cracks/micro scratches/collected dirt at edges) unless you are very careful in keeping it clean. I will try to post a picture later to show you what i'm talking about. But I can say it did save my bumper from rock chips and flying debris that would have ordinarily ruined an unprotected bumper.

 

Definitely worth it IMO. Had it installed on my girls aftermarket front bumper. It was hand cut and you really can't even tell it's there at all. Paid a little under $500 here in Houston.

 

I've got the same problem that Demonteverde is describing. I just bought my coupe and the previous owner had put one the clear bras on it. With age it's cracked a lot and trapped dirt under. I started to remove it myself but it's such a pain I'll probably have to pay a body shop or some place to remove it.
