Interior Panel Removal help

Hello everyone,

Need some help. I've done searches on removing dash pieces but have not seen anything on how to remove the panel I've circled in the pic. Can someone please let me know how this is done? I'm assuming the panel that sits to the left of the air vent snaps off or is it screwed on?

I basically want to know if I have to take the whole bottom of the steering wheel unit off to get access to the circled panel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I want to get behind the panel circled to install a clean switch for auxillary fog lights.

Thanks again.

It's been a few weeks, but I think the circled panel (with the "alarm" LED) is actually attached to the vent panel to it's left.

To remove it you need to first remove the lower (light tan) panel below it with the switches for trunk/vdc/dimmer, etc. If you look underneath you'll see a couple bolts/screws (I think they're 10mm but I don't recall for sure). You do NOT need to unscrew the OBDII btw, that's just mounted to the plastic, not helping secure the panel to the body.

Once that's dropped down, pull the rubber weather stripping out of the way (the rubber running along the door edge on the body side), then pull towards you. That panel is clipped into place, not bolted down as far as I recall. Moving the weather stripping is key once you have the lower panel down, but it's pretty straight forward.

If any of that didn't make sense let me know, I don't have pics but I still have my interior in pieces and can probably make more sense of it when I sober up.

Oh yeah, and tilt the steering wheel UP as much as it'll go. Gives you a little more wiggle room.

Last edit: I don't know whether or not it's required to pull the kickpanels out, mine have been out for months for an audio build so if it looks like they're holding you up they are easy to remove. Start by removing the door sill plastic that runs parallel to the floor to the left of the driver seat (plastic piece, not the aluminum one with Infiniti on it), it just pops up. Then you can pull the kick panel out but it's a small pain. You need to pull up the dead pedal first then you'll see a small plastic nut holding the kickpanel down against the base of the firewall.

Thanks Leksikon! I was looking at the factory service manual and they didn't mention any way to take this damn piece off!

Only thing it did mention was to remove the lower panel. Now knowing that it's clipped in makes me feel so much better! This is sweet. Thanks so much for the response. Have another tasty beverage on me! Lol...
