Why doesn't anybody paint the taillights and headlights? It can be done. It can be done using the same paint code as your car.

I know it's a pain when someone quotes a picture, but damn, that's nice. Anyone else with opinions on the smoothness. (no offense bat, but you are a bit biased

Depends on how much paint you apply. The guys over at platinum motorsport have done them on many cars including my old one. Looks a lot better and you can wax them too!

i saw a black audi a4 2005 and he started asking me about my car and he told me how his dad owns a shop and they have this special paint which you can paint your tail lights with. His tail lights looked reallllllllllllllly good but it was literally blacked out. I asked how much it was and i dont remember an exact number but i remember it sounded veryyyyyyyyyy pricey.

Bat the overlays are great! Does anyone have the headlights done on an IP coupe? GTR or full?

As I did the design engineering for the GTR headlight overlays....
I still say the kits should contain 2 sets.
The first to practice on and get the technique.....and the second set to install after you figure out how to do it right.
My main thing was I got them too hot and they stretched in a couple of places.
Now that I know the tricks.....it would be easy to have them look perfect.

i think i've asked this before, but...

bat - have you thought about helping us sedan guys with some nice stuff like the gtr overlays? the coupe guys get all the nice stuff: greddy kits, vis cf hoods, your gtr overlays, etc...

I've had Sedan people ask me that, but if you look at the Sedan headlamps, nothing comes flush up against the casing like the coupe. I have a full tint for the headlight and tails. I'm always up for doing new things. How a bout posting a thread in the Sedan Forum with your thoughts, and see what kind of interest we can generate?

There no special paint. A technique, yes. It shouldn't be much. I got both my tail lights done for $25 bucks.

Thought I'd give my .02 cents on the overlays (or transparent vinyl).

I did overlays myself on my old '95 maxima (redded out my tails).

I used Oracal 8300, which is a special transparent colored PVC film with UV-stabilizers, and a nice gloss surface. Comes in a ton of colors too.

It was on the exterior of the car, and it is supposed to last 5-7 years (had been a few years for me, and still looked great!). I took it through car washes, etc, and it never got ruined.

I would say you have nothing to worry about as long as it's a good quality vinyl being used.
