Painting my exhaust

Got my car back from the body shop after getting into a accident. Everything looks good EXCEPT, my ugly *** stock exhaust sticks out like a sore thumb. I dont have alot of bread to spend on a new exhaust, and honestly I prefer the sound of the stock exhaust to some of the aftermarket choices.

materials 25.00 and a case of beer

my stock exhaust is really dirty, and the tips have some overspray from my body shop

Cleaned it real good with simple green and let it dry. now its time for some fun

30 mins later my hand is all shaky but I got the exhaust down to bare metal. This is a vanity mod so I'm only sanding whats going to be visible.

cleaned it off with more simple green and while it was drying i made a ghetto paint station... it was too small.

time to prime. Used rustoleum high heat primer, good for up to 2000 degrees

18 hours later, its paint time. Rustoleum engine enamel black gloss. good to 500 degrees

gonna let it sit till tomorrow. I have some imperfections so I'm going to wet sand it a little with 1200 grit. pics on car soon!

Thanks, I got the idea from my friend. He painted his chrome exhaust on his ninja the same way and it gives his bike a meaner look.

Looks pretty sick. Not sure about the tips painted. I have a spare stock exhaust sitting in my garage. Think in going to tackle this. Minus the tips. But I'll wait for the installed picks. Good job!
