Shift **** Removal

Ok guys, I'm going to feel embarrassed for asking this but is there some secret for removing the shift **** on this car, 2004 G35 sedan 6mt? I've tried muscling it off but it won't budge and it feels like I'm going to break the shifter. Thanks in advance

STOP. do not try to turn it like that. you will mess you shlt up bro. you need to twist it off with vice grips and a sliding jaw plier, also use radiator hose so you dont damage it.

When i was doing this i was very worried about the pliers leaving marks on the shifter and **** so i actually came up with the perfect solution. I took some clear 1/8 in plastic tubing and split it down the middle so its just like a thin long strip, i wrapped this around the shifter and the **** and material was perfect to keep a strong grip on the parts yet thick enough to prevent the wrenches from leaving marks
