Carbon Fiber Wrap?

I'm not a big fan of wrapping just because it doesn't give off the actual look of carbon fiber, but I ran into this video that actually showed a finished set of GTR rims that used carbon fiber wrapping. I believe it was the 3M 1080, but I'm not exactly sure. What I want to know is how he got such a glossy/real carbon fiber look out of it because this seems like a nice alternative rather then actually spending tons of money on carbon fiber parts. Just a thought and something I would think would be fun to start a project on and see how it turns out . Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I doubt that's a real carbon fiber cause the center looks like the OEM aluminum alloy. I'm guessing after the wrap they sprayed gloss on it...

I actually ran into this as well. Hydrodipping carbon fiber? Sounds interesting lol. Any experience with this stuff?

Hydro dipping is not necessarily bad, it's the pattern they give you for the carbon look that doesn't remotely look like the real thing. If they put more effort into the pattern, it'd look better. Nothing beats the depth of the real thing.
