05 G35 sedan chrome window trim alternatives?

I have a 2005 g35x. I've been looking to make the chrome around my windows black. I was considering having the chrome painted black. But does anyone know if there is an 05 altima part that could simply replace it easier. I have the 05 altima rainguards covering the majority of the top piece of chrome so would the entire window trim fit perhaps? Anyone tried this?

Thanks. The only concern I have however is that I hear chrome is extremely difficult to get paint to stick to in regards of the fineness of its surface. Anyone tried this with success and lasting results?

Thats what sandpaper, primer and clearcoat is for. Ive had mine for over a year with no issues. It's no different than painting a grille and grilles are alot more prone to chips. Only way it wont stick is with a cheap painter that just sprays it with no prep work done

Very true, thanks. Did you have someone do it for you, or could you tell me what grit sandpaper and what primer you used? If I'm going to do this I'd like to do it right, and all the shops in my town won't paint on chrome.

The bodyshop did it but ive painted chrome before and ive used 600grit sandpaper, clean with alcohol, adhesion promoter then a couple coats of paint and clear. Or get a can of plasti dip and plasti dip glossifier ( no prep needed)

Also there are vinyl companies that can wrap them in gloss or matte black vinyl too... Never seen it in person though

yeah i'm gonna have mine wrapped in vinyl. I cant decice if it would look better to get flat black vinyl or gloss? Some of our window trim is already gloss black i dont wanna do two differents blacks but i have my door handels flat black vinyl and my lower running trim is flat black.

I previously has an 03 sedan that i found a special "shadow line" tape for. It was gloss black and i loved it! and it lasted over 3 years.

Just recently purchased an 06 sedan. Last night i Plasti-dipped the grill and badges flat black. Looks awesome!

Tonight after work i decided to plasti-dip the window trim and door handles. What a pain in the a$$. Cutting and peeling the fine lines is very difficult. I actually had to remove the entire passenger side because i messed up and chrome was showing.

It was so much easier to use the tape. But i think the flat black looks really good. Way better than the gloss.

So for now ill drive around with half black trim til i decide weather or not i want to try again.

can the door trim be removed, painted, and replaced? Because im am masking the crap outta the car and its very difficult to keep it from over spray.

Does anybody know if the trim can be removed? if so is there a DIY anywhere that somebody can share?

paint/wrap black...either that or wrap it in carbon fiber vinyl, but some people might consider that tacky
