Hey guys. I want to change my interior bulbs. I have uses the search feature and guess most people go with the T-6 bulb from PIAA. Has anyone tried the generic 31mm festoon 4LED bulb? Any comparisons?

Second question is with the door light. The Map/Dome light are 10watts but the door is only rated at 5 watts (i think). I also think its a different bulb (29mm as opposed to 31mm festoon) Can I put a 31mm PIAA T-6 (rated at 10 watts) into the door light?

I would rather get the same bulb for both but dont want to burn any wiring. TIA

The map lights would not fit in the doors. If you are looking for colors, checkout APC bulbs at pepboys.com. They have numerous options, including blue, for the map and step lights.

There are also a number of options at superbrightleds.com, if you are interested in the led option. I ordered the four led replacement for the map light. It is a decent option.

Scroll down to the festoon base bulbs, 31mm. They offer Red, White, Blue, Amber, UV and Green. This will not work in the door. I had to order the door steps from Pepboys, non-led.

The piaa t-6 bulbs fit in both the map lights and the door step lights. I have them installed in both places and they look good.

 

Anyone know which are brigter...the t-6 bulbs or the 4LEDs?

 

If you are after a white bulb, my money would be on the PIAA's. Based on what I am reading, the T6 is also an LED type but with 6 bulbs in place of the superbrights 4 LEDS.

 

i actually picked up this red LEDs. it works, but the casing seems to be a little too big. but, since it works, i got no complaints.
