Oem grill plastidip diy

hey everyone i wanted to paint my grill with some plastidip and wondered if i needed to sand my grill or if it can be painted over.

as you can see on my image my grill is a bit craked and looks like the chrome is chipping?

any suggestions? is a new gril necessary? (i have a offer for 54 plastidip already)

Also, does a 03 grill fit 2004?

No need to sand just clean it of no debris. Also make sure it's a warm day out as dip hates cold weather. 03/04 grilles are the same.

hey, did you see my photo, it looks kinda bad... Just wondering if the dip is kinda think to cover over that ruff part...

& any suggestions on which dip to use? Perfomix or dipyourcar.com?

And can this be used for my chrome handles and ect body chrome trim?

you didn't link the pic right, here you go

it may cover that if you put on enough coats..buy the dip from homedepot or lowes, those places are overpriced for nothing. It can be used on trim and handles, get on youtube and do your research. Plenty of DIY's

I painted mine 3 weeks ago when I did my rims. Take it off, use a good degreaser, find a spot that's protected from the wind and start with a light cover coat, let it dry, then continue with the next series of coats.

I bought 5 cans and was able to paint each rim and grill with 4 coats and I had 1 1/4 cans left. And I took my rims off and painted the insides as well

The smoother the original surface the better the results without having to do a real heavy set of coats on it. DipYourCar.com sells the Performix brands but at the best prices you will find anywhere. Check out the link in my sig for some of the dipping I have done, including my grill.

like said above, make sure to:
1. do very light coating. (its ok if the first or second coat doesnt cover the surface entirely)
2. let dry.
3. repeat.

^? 4-5 coats of dip should hold up extremely well. Its more pliable and should be less likely to get chips in it.

Yea dip can take a beating, lot more than what spray paint can on trim or grilles
