Painted Grill

Finished painting OEM grill last night. I love the look of it, completely changes the look of the car.

I used Krylon Fusion Satin Black, Rustoleum Primer and Krylon Satin Clear. Took grill off car and popped the Fuji out. Sanded the "chrome" with 400 until it was all frosted looking. 4 coats of primer, 8-9 coats of black (used most of the can) and I want to say 5 good coats of clear. Let it dry 20 min in between coats and then tried to wait about 16 hours for it to fully set before I put it back on the car.

Had to take my girl home and she lives in BEF so the front got plastered with bugs and I was afraid the car wash would rip the paint right off but it held up great! It's mod's like these that make subtle but drastic changes to a cars appearance. Cheap too!

I didn't take much before pics because it was getting dark. I'll post more pics when I clean the car more.

It looks nice, but I'm not a fan of taking something meant to stand out and making it blend. Why so many coats of black? You only need about 3

Thanks! I'm just not a big fan of any type of chrome, except on a muscle/old school, on a car. I think it makes it look tacky. But that's just IMHO. This was my first time spraying a grill matte black, I couldn't tell if I got it all covered, so I figured why not go a little heavy? Piece of mind for me I guess.
