Trunk not latching

Tried searching found a lot about the trunk not opening, however, mine is the opposite. As of yesterday my trunk will not lock. The button clicks when I press it, I moved the lock with a screwdriver, and it turns the light on and off. But, when I press down it just doesn't engage. I'm thinking it's the actual lock assembly, but looking for some second opinions on what to check. The emergency release also seems to be loose with slack and I'm not sure if that's normal.

If you open your trunk there are two black circular discs on either side of the lock, they look like buttons. These are actually screws that adjust the height at which the trunk rests when closed. It sounds like you need to adjust these. As far as the emergency release being too loose, the cord is actually fastened to the metal trunk behind the liner, so if those push in fasteners popped out, then the cord would be loose. Post a pic if you can, i just replaced mine for the opposite problem, but it ended up being a frayed wire that the previous owner did a crappy soldering job on.

I'll take a look at those screws you mentioned and try to post up some pics when I have a chance. Thanks for the reply.

Okay, so I found those circular screws, but don't know how to adjust them.

Also, I noticed now the trunk latches only when I remove the plastic part on the bottom and the plastic covering on the lock. So, I'm thinking maybe the striker is too low or something.

You just have to twist the circular screws either clockwise or counter clockwise with your fingers and they will move in / out slightly. Post a pic if you can. My latch doesnt have the plastic covering anymore, but i bought another actuator that does, and they both work whether it has it on or off.

Figured it out all the adjustments were correct. But the top locking mechanism was slightly bent. I actually noticed it by accident, so I just used some pliers to straighten it out and all is well now.
