Door Handle/Lock part broken?

Recently my door lock/handle on my drivers side came off. I was able to get the handle back in the door but it seems something may have broken on the cover and something holding it on the door itself. I hope the attached pictures help describe my problem.

it looks like this clip is missing two tabs to hold it onto the lock

also I don't think this was right but I'm assuming it isn't normal for this lock mechanism to come out of the door? did a part break on the inside perhaps?

Anyone know what might have broken?

Look on the edge of the door. The is a rubber plug that is about the same distance from the ground. Remove the plug and look inside. There is a bolt held in place by a C clip of some sort. You may want to look inside the passenger side to see what the bolt looks like.

Either the bolt is missing or it came unscrewed. That will hold ur lock in place

The plastic echelon cover (I believe it's called is a common part that breaks. Pretty sure u can even order a pre painted replacement from dealership.

It's all very basic after u do it once.
