8000k hid bulb (feedback please)

I've read and searched through the forums plenty of times. 8000k = i'll lose visibility and more glare to other people. I just think that the stock ones are too yellow. I know that we have d2r bulbs, and the d2s bulbs aren't supposed to go in our cars because it'll hurt the ballast or sumtin like that. Correct me if i'm wrong. But before i got my G coupe, i had the xetronic hid kit for my accord, and it was very nice. Now that the G already has HID's in it, i want to buy just the bulbs. http://www.hidexpress.com/index.asp?...ATS&Category=5 Has anyone out there had anymore experience with this? I don't think it's possible to have a bulb that can fit D2s, and D2r bulbs. Just doesn't sound right to me. Can i have some feedback please? I don't care if i lose visibility, it's a sacrifice i'm willing to take.

Nothing's to stop you from putting a D2s bulb with the ballast. It's all the same. what is different is that the D2s bulb may have difference notch locations in the bult retention area, but that's something easily fixed with a dremel.

I don't have experience with those bulbs that you have in the link, but most people prefer Philips bulbs for quality and longevity.

The stock 4100K bulbs will color shift as they age to give less yellow. That's why Philips came out with the 5000K bulbs to match color shifted bulbs. That's what I would go with if I wanted less yellow.

But sounds like you're willing to give up light output, so in that case 8000K-20000K, it's all the same, go with whatever color you like.

The above post is totally false. I had to join the forum just to reply:

D2s and D2r bulbs are very different . D2S bulbs are designed for projector applications. D2R bulbs are designed for reflector applications. The vital difference between the two is that d2r bulbs have a "band" around them to help cut down on glare in reflector housings. Therefore, the two are NOT interchangable. DO NOT use d2s bulbs in your reflector housings. Everyone else on the road will want to hunt you down and kill you.

Also, the colors (Kelvin Rating) are also very different. The output most definitely goes down as the kelvin rating goes up. Highest output is 4100K (the color) and is stock in all applications. If youre after more color, i would highly recommend that you purchase D2R phillips ultinons, available commonly on ebay. The ultinons are 6000K, and are more blue than stock 4100K capsules. And most importantly they are produced by phillips and are therefore much more reliable than your average aftermarket capsule.

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest anyone with any questions related to anything HID check out the hidplanet forums atHIDPLANET FORUMS

Hope i was able to help and that this post was informative. I jus thate to see people waste money on ricer crap like a 12000k capsule or something else ridiculous.

What I meant was that the D2S bulb will not cause any electronic incompatibility with the ballast, as that is what the original poster was concerned about.

Correct, D2S bulbs function the same way the D2R bulbs do as far as electrical draw and connection to the ballast.
