Angry How to remove front seat back?

2006 coupe Auto.

I am trying to remove the upper seat back of the driver's seat in order to swap the seat assembly on the bottom cushion. I've gotten it all apart save for some rod that goes from the left of the upper seat back over to the right and down, and hooks into the lower seat assembly. I see that pin needs to move back, down and then forward to unhook from the right side, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to make it do that . Anyone have some hints? FSM says " replace the seat as a unit".

As a general rule when you take a seatback assy off you lean it forward as far as it will go and separate the seatback cover along the bottom edge of the seatback. It will either be connected by a zipper, Velcro, or those foldover type clips that sort of 'unroll' to make them separate. Once it's apart you slide the cover up just far enough to get to the upper hinge bolts on either side, then just lift it off. You shouldn't need to remove the cover all the way or the headrest. You'll have to work the harness wiring for the seats airbags up through the seat bottom probably to get it out of your way but note how they routed it through the frame and put it back so when the seat slides back and forth it won't pinch.

yep that’s where I’m at. This rod/pin whatever is the only thing holding it together. It’s seems like I should fold the seat down and push down to release but it’s just not happening. The pic where the rod goes down, it makes a left turn and hooks into a C channel with the opening of the C towards the rear of the seat. Sorry pics are rotated 90 degrees CCW.
