The trunk release button does not work and the emergency trunk release lever inside is broken how else can I get the trunk open.

Go in from the rear seat, remove the carpet and spare tire cover. You can get down to the locking mechanism and unbolt it.

Are you SURE the emergency release is broken?

Also, verify you haven't disabled the trunk release from the glove box. There's a kill switch to turn off the trunk release switches.

A pretty long piece of cord is still attached to the emergency handle. I can't see it hanging down anywhere so I think it broke off up inside the trunk. I did not know about the switches in the glove box will check that. The back running lights are out so I was thinking it's the wires that go from the trunk into the car apparently these cars had a problem with being too short and they broke I don't know if that's caused but I will check the glove box next thank you all very much for your replies.

Yeah if your tail lights are also not functioning it's probably a broken wire in that loom, guessing you have a sedan since that doesn't happen on the coupe.

You are correct my friend. I thought the cable broke off the emergency release handle but it was just the plastic sleeve that goes over the wire was able to access wire Pop the trunk cut the loom open repair for wires that were broke tail lights and trunk work again. Thanks everyone I appreciate your advice and help hopefully I can return the favor one day.
