Wht % of tint u have

Guys

Need ur opinion

Have a DG/ Graphite comb sedan -- wht tint looks good -- 35 % all through or 35 % in front windows and 20% in the back windows.

Is 35% enough to block heat as its gets over 100 here at Las Vegas

Thoughts please

No you will need to go for 25% or less like 5% Limo Tint

I have 35% Right now But I'm in New York.

Unless you get metallic tint (which is expensive, like $50 per window more), tint will actually make your car hotter because the dark surface of the windows traps heat more than it blocks. If you want it for privacy, it will work. For blocking heat, not so good. With that said, I'm getting mine done in 35%.

If you are in Vegas, send a private message to Geo Bau asking him to give you access to the Vegas Forums on this site. We've got our own little local club forming at the moment.

I just got Huper Optik (I did a bunch of research on this site and found that it was recommended by a lot of people) installed on my Obsidian Black sedan and went with 60% front, 40% rear (didn't want to get too dark since my black car w/black interior makes it look darker). It costs about twice as much as other tints, but the tint shop where I got mine done (Song's Tint Masters) had this display that totally sold me on it (maybe it was a sales trick, but it was really cool!).

They had this four-sided box with a heat lamp in it. They had a clear pane on side 1, 5% Madico limo on side 2, 35% Madico on side 3, and 76% Huper Optik on side 4. I could still feel the heat through the limo tint, but couldn't feel it at all through the Huper Optik side!

I think looks are subjective.

Hope this helps.
Thomas

Huh????

I'm not sure what you are talking about, but tint will NOT make your car hotter. I've had non-metallic tint on every car I've owned here in sunny California and it significantly reduced the temperature inside the car in every instance.

As for what % to use, I would not recommend 5% (limo) tint in the back for one reason; visibility. I had 5% on one of my previous cars and I was literally backing up blind at night. I ended up having it removed and replaced with a lighter tint. Since, you are in Vegas you may consider 25% in the back. Personally, I have 35% on the back 5 windows and 50% on the passanger/driver windows. The heat reduction is significant, even for my black on black sedan. I would also recommend a HeatShield for the windshield when parking in the sun.

i have 20 percent on all side windows. i have 5 percent on the rear and i would not recomend it. like skeleton_cru said you can't see out the rear at night when backing. you can see cars coming and going in the rear window but you couldn't see a kid on a bike behind you at night.

I live in AZ and we put 20% on the front windows and 5% on the side and rear windows of all our cars. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re willing to go that dark, but even 35% front and 20% will make a difference.

35% on the sides is definetly enough, I don't like cars that have 2 shades of tint on the sides..too me, it doesn't flow..but to each its own..and 20% in rear is perfect..

my suggestion is to get a light tint on the windshield..the hightest (50%)possible..cause like the majority of the heat comes from the front and rear..and it will help..

If heat protection is the major factor, definately get Huper Optik. It's ceramic based.

I have 20% all around. It's fairly dark at night and took a little getting used to but I have no problems. I agree that having the front and rear windows different doesn't look very good. Go all the same. I like 20% but 35% would probably be fine.

20% rules. Good privacy and heat reduction, but I can still see at night backing up.

I have 50% tint all the way around. Its the lightest tint that I could find. I think its perfect. Dark tint of the early 90s is way out in my opinion and its nearly impossible to see out of it in the dark.

Note, I have had a cop tell me to take my tint off on the doors although he didn't site me for it. He walked up to my car to tell me while ticketing someone else.

heres a photo..

I like it when the tint does not match front to back (I don't mind--Can't tell at night and I can see out fine!!!) I would limo all the windows, if it were legal. I go legal in the front and limo out the rest--I've had all my cars this way going back to 1988 on my very first car. My daughter sure appreciates it b/c it is cooler and there is less glare back there. It does a good job of hiding all her kid stuff back there too. I think the look of dark tint is timeless. As far as darker tint trapping more heat inside---I disagree.
