Exterior trim splitting and peeling back

Both the drivers side and passengers side exterior door trim seems to be splitting and peeling off from the back to the front. It's the trim on the bottom of the doors on the coupe. I was wondering if anyone else has delt with this?

Seriously.........I just had my drivers side replaced by Infiniti under warranty yesterday! It's the one that is at the bottom of thedoor and it looks like its almost cut when it rips. I'm guessing its from pressure washing.

That's the one. I figured that I had done it myself and was about to have it replaced when I decided to check the other side, sure enough the same thing was happening on the passenger side door. I can't get it to the dealer for another few weeks but I'm hoping I don't have a problem replacing them.

Thats a crock, how is opening your car door next to a curb supposed to do that? It's impossible. I'm taking it to the dealer on April 7th so I'll let you know what happens

You need to go to another dealer then......If you really need it, I can get you a copy of my invoice minus names and adresses so they can see its covered. Don't take any BS from that dealer.

oh my gosh, i just had my driver's side door trim replaced last week as well! it was covered under warranty and i didnt even have to say anything to them about it. i know for a fact i didnt hit it against something and i dont use an auto carwash or pressure washer.

Seems like they were timed to distruct in March of 2005.
Still better than my first cars timing.....tranny replacement 5 times.( not exagerated or typoed)..2 just at 1,500 and 10,000 after warranty.

If you ever have the dealer wash your car when you take it in for service.....its been pressure washed.

Went to the dealer today, will replace no problem. They just have to order the trim. Well I guess that was easy.

p.s. trying to post pics, but I seem to be having a bit of a problem.

Door trim - lower sweep

I had both sides split and peel back on my 2004. This was the first winter. It's being replaced right now and I'm assuming warenty. The Service manager said it was curbs but that doesn't happen. That strip is tough because I cut it off with a knife to stop the dangling. I guess a small tear caused by ??? progresses to a running rip. My guesses were Powerwash (winter), Lower part of the car washed with a brush (not again) or sticking from icing up then a small tear when the door is opened.
It all comes down to a design flaw. I hope this doesn't mean replacement every 8 months.

Regards
Gary
