self-lowering side mirrors...

...would you pay $1000 dollars to have your right side rear-view mirrors pan down automaticaly whenever you shift into reverse? It's being sold as a kit on the Nissan Japanese website... sells for $78300 yen.... so I figure about a grand imported here... anybody know someone that could import this kinda stuffs?
they even have sonic parking assists and rear-view monitors...

Re: self-lowering side mirrors...

$300 maybe, $1000 NO WAY.

I mean, I thought about this, and basically, all it is is something that's programmed to move the mirrors inward for a programmed few seconds, and downward for a programmed few seconds, and is triggered by a relay to the reverse lights. If someone knew how to make timed chips, and could interface the stock mirror wiring, it could be done. Don't get me wrong, I have NO CLUE how to do it, but it doesn't seem that complicated, and certainly not worth $1,000

And last time I checked, it wasn't a rear-view monitor, but front-bumper mounted left and right side view monitors for peaking around bushes and buildings and such at a corner.

This feature has been available for Lincoln sedans for years and would be extremely helpful in preventing curbing your wheels during parallel parking.

Re: self-lowering side mirrors...

It's been available for many cars for years. Another missing feature is memory mirrors to go with the memory seats. They had to cut corners somewhere to give this kind of performance with this kind of price the first year out. I'm sure they'll add a few of the extra amenities in a year or two.

The mirror thing isn't worth $1000 to me. The tilt-down and memory mirrors together could raise the Premium Package by a couple hundred and I'd be fine with that.

Re: self-lowering side mirrors...

sorry, the lowering mirror alone was about 45000 yen.... the 78300 yen was coupled with some other things...

and ryoken, they have the front side monitors, but they also have a rear view monitors... check it out at nissan.co.jp...

and it seems to me like they're not offering the rear window wipers anymore.... and they even get parking assists front and rear.... that's just not fair.....
