Over the weekend i felt a sudden drop in braking performance, now i really need to step on the brake hard and deep to stop the car but there werent any squeaking noise. weird . if there is no squeak, is that means the pad are ok? how can i check the pad? how thick should they be?

I have about 23k on my coupe, so it should be about time to change the pads...will the warranty cover it for free? or do i have to purchase my own pad and installation at my own cost?

If i have to buy some pads i will go for aftermarket Project Mu B force pads all around...expensive thou...but if i can install it myself i can cut some cost.

any suggestions???

 

Maybe your brake fluid boiled? You could try changing your fluid to some DOT4 OR DOT5.

 

what does brake fluid boild mean? and whats DOT4 or DOT5...i have no clue about brakes...
my friend who has a 350z said something about letting the air bubbles out of the brake system???

 

i am in the same position as you, but i only have 16k miles. after doing some research, i am going with the b force pads also. go get your rotors resurfaced too.

 

if goto a dealership, they will charge you at least 800-1000 dollars for a brake job garauntee. If you plan on using your same rotors, make sure to measure them before resurfacing them.

I doubt you have air in your system. Your pads are just probably low. Check your fluid level. If its low, most likely your pads are worn down.

also, run your thumb across the rotor when its cool, and check to see if there is a ridge at the end of the rotor.

What does it mean if i have the ridge at the end of the rotor? is it ok to just get new pads and not resurfacing? and is stock brake pads cover by warranty?

 

how do u get 800-1000 for a brake job where are u getting ripped off. at my dealership its only lke 250 for the front which i most likely all he needs if that.
