Not really random if you follow the thread...I have been the one checking on this and am the one who started the thread, and I need the service manual so I can compare the JDM part numbers given to me for the mirror components to the US ones.

If you don't have the service manual, why even comment?

KPierson 08-03-2006 12:48 PM

His post wasn't random at all, this thread is about integrating the OEM mirror tilt feature found on the Skyline with the G35.

Do you want the service manual or the parts book? I don't think the service manual gives detailed part numbers.

oscottio 08-03-2006 02:13 PM

dang, this sounds like a nice mod. i've been tilting my mirrors manually when i parrallel park. fold in feature would be cool, but the tilt is i want. i tried to read as much of the thread as possible. seems like things are still in the works. i'll check back to see how things are progressing. thanks for all the hard work and effort. =)

I was going to try and use the service manual and parts catalog together. I have the service manual but haven't figured out what controls the mirrors yet, and if a new ECM would be needed to have the power fold in. Now, I am thinking more along the lines of doing the tilt only.:o

KPierson 08-03-2006 05:43 PM

Take a look at the gw.pdf file, you should find all power mirror stuff in there. The manual power mirrors are extremely basic, with all controls being done with the switch contacts.

installation instructions

Kevin, I don't know if you can figure anything out from the installation instructions Yoshi san gave me because it's in Japanese, but I was just wanting to make sure this thing is going to work on a G35 instead of V35. I am an mechanical engineer so I am an electronics idiot. :o

If you look at page 10 of the installation instructions below, it has the schematic, but it nearly impossible to read so I am trying to get a better copy of it so we can understand how this thing is wired up.

Ha! My Japanese is a 'bit' rusty.....

I'll take a look at them a little later and see if I can gather anything from the pictures. Have you been able to get a price for just the tilt mirror? If we can get the mirror it would be plausable to build our own control system. :)

I am under the impression that the mirror is exactly the same for tilt feature, and we would only be buying the control system. Price for the control unit, harness, and some other parts that we do not need will be $265.13 plus ~$40 for shipping.

KPierson 08-08-2006 10:57 PM

Those pics are really too small to gain any knowledge with them. From the looks of it there is an unused plug under the steering wheel. I'll keep an eye out for it next time I rip my car apart!

Sportcoupe35 08-09-2006 09:21 AM

So when can we order? hehehehe

You can order anytime. I was trying to find out more about the power fold-in but have given up on that.

Just send an email to Yoshi san telling him you want the parking support system for a '03~'06 V35: jsgarage [yosi@j-garage.com]

He's out of town right now, though, so you won't hear back from him until probably Monday.

I also added the pictures of the tilt down feature since it seems the ones in the previous old posts do not show up.

I really want to get this, but I'm worried about the difficulty of the installation... Are there english instructions for it? And does the package come with the auto-fold feature?

Also, has anyone installed it and taken pictures of the process?

Thanks!

No english instructions are available since this is only available as a Japan dealer installed option. It, theoretically, should be plug and play, but I'm sure putting this on the US version will involve some splicing.

It will have the control to automatically fold you mirrors in when you shut the car off if you buy the auto fold in mirrors.

No one has installed this yet:( . I am supposed to the guinea pig.:D

I want to see DIY write up for the auto tilt down feature... ASAP... and a link to where I can order :D

Do it and everyone here will be forever grateful!!

Maybe if everyone chipped in $5 or $10 to the guy who would get these and install them w/ super detailed pics & instructions.. I wouldn't even mind some video.

just post your paypal addy.. you have my support :)

I'm definitely going to do it.:D I've aleady curbed one wheel and don't want to do that again. :(

I am most uncomfortable about getting the right parts all the way from Japan and being able to figure if I have the correct parts when they get here and not knowing if something is missing.

ajonas 08-16-2006 11:42 AM

tilt mirrors - must check this out....

Don't know if anyone has found this site yet, i just came across it last night...but kptechnologies.com makes many cool "modules" for our cars. They make a window auto up kit and a auto open/close kit for the sunroof. Very good quality and very complete... BUT the coolest thing they have on the table is a module for the auto tilt of the mirrors. They are in the testing phase and once completed I would presume it would be as sweet of a mod as the others. Just a thought!

Sportcoupe35 08-16-2006 01:03 PM

KP has been working on this for a little while.
I've owned some of their other modules and they work great.
They make quality products and they work well. I'm just waiting for him to finish it.

mephistomyhero 08-16-2006 03:16 PM

If you look back, somewhere in all these 12 pages of posts, KP said they are working on it but ran into some difficulties an expenses.

lbcdefg35 08-16-2006 05:05 PM

yo G35UKY keep up the good work.!!! people like me and some others appreciate what your doing.....just fcuk all the haters and keep it up.!!!
much love...lbcdefg35.....pz.!!!

Calvin 08-16-2006 05:13 PM

yeh KP has been around for quite a while. nothing new here..

Does anyone live to north side of the 210 freeway, just west of the 605 freeway, just east of Pasadena? This place called Performance Nissan might be able to get us these parts.;)

I sent an email with the part numbers to Tony Nazzal there on Monday, Aug. 7, but he has not responded. He said that he could probably get some pricing if given the part numbers. Can someone that lives close stop in there and give them the part numbers to see if they can get the parts?:)

Our 'big' problem has since been resolved. I was attempting to build a controller that would offer full tilt down functions for both mirrors. This added many different degrees of difficulty. At our last company meeting I gave an update report and it was decided to eliminate the 2nd mirror, but then offer the module at a low enough price that it would be feasable for people to buy two of them, IF they want both mirrirs to be controlled. Now, it's circuit board designing time!

Ah, that's good to hear! I've been waiting for these forever (well, ever since the first post, which was 12 pages ago!). Any idea how much roughly? Also, the mirror itself won't fold in like it does in Japan does it? I'm guessing no since that requires some sort of solenoid or servo motor? Anyways, this would be great and I can add the other little chips you guys created at the same time.

ajonas 08-16-2006 10:17 PM

Awwwww....that is good to hear!!! Not to take away from any hard investgation work previous people have done here (seems some are very territorial when it comes to that). But it's nice to have options and i'm still rooting for G35UKY!!!

What about hooking it into the L-off-R control switch to control which mirror tilts? Would that help, or is it still the same as having both tilt at the same time?

KPierson 08-17-2006 02:33 PM

You can't hook in to the OEM switch due to the way it's laid out. I wish you could, but that isn't an option.

G35UKY 08-18-2006 11:36 AM

So we'll have to two buy two of them, one for each mirror then like you said.:o

Do you have an idea on cost yet?:)

KPierson 08-18-2006 11:41 AM

Yes, two will be require IF you want both mirrors to tilt. We chose to go this route because for most people they will only want the passenger mirror to tilt anyway.

No cost estimates yet, but we will strive to make them very affordable, like the rest of our product line.

Calvin 08-18-2006 11:46 AM

so is there any need for me to go to perf nissan still?

If you have time, I think it would still be a good idea so we will know if the JDM part numbers are correct.

I still want to try and get it since it will probably be a little white before KP comes out with their design.

KPierson 08-18-2006 02:18 PM

haha, yeah I'm working on four different products right now. Past that, I have our current modules to keep in stock, and I work a full time job. To top it off, at the end of this month I am changing careers and going from a field service technician to a maintenance manager. I'm pretty busy! This module, however, is towards the top of our priorities right now.

Mike_Deezy 08-18-2006 05:22 PM

I'd really be interested in this, can't wait.

Disco_Monkey 09-12-2006 03:49 PM

I agree, I think most of us would only need the passenger side.

Approximate ETA of release?

I recently updated the other thread about the progress of KPtechnologies on this product.

We have finally finished the circuit board layout and it is in the mail right now.

However, I'm getting married tomorrow (Dec 16) so I won't be able to work on testing it until around the first of the year.

KP Technologies.. working on this module..

If you go to the KP Technologies site they are working on this module for the G coupe. My Caddy CTS had this and I miss it on the G.

Anyone know why this and the sunroof module would only work on a coupe?

KPierson 12-28-2006 06:46 AM

The tilt down module is universal and should work on almost any car with power windows.

Despite the fact that both the coupe and sedan are G35s there are some pretty significant electrical differences between them. For example, the coupe sunroof switches switch a (-) signal whereas the sedan switches a (+) signal. Also, the coupe 'cluster matrix' is a positive signal, whereas the sedan is negative.

You would think, to save costs, that they would use the same sunroof and BCM controllers in both, but they didn't.
