350z AT shifter does NOT fit on the G

I bought one on eBay tonight and went to pick it up since the seller said it would fit but the teeth are totally different. The shifter does not fit. I'm assuming the 04 g35 "trigger style" shifter fits on the 03's though correct?

Here is what the 350z shifter looked like:

You should get the MOMO auto ****. Fits perfect and matches nicely.

Did you get that performance nissan? I got mine there and it fits fine. It doesnt lock in place but it fits over. Did they send you the right clip? You need the blue one, they had to send it to me 3 times to get the right one.

I just changed to the Momo AT shifter. If you want to buy my oem 2004 AT shift **** let me know. I'm local in So. Calif.

It looks like the 350Z **** has the button lower than the G35 ****.

No, I drove to Glendale to pick it up (I didn't get it because it didn't fit). If you look under the shifter in the hole you'll see the white plastic teeth. This shifter's teeth design was different and didn't fit over. I'm assuming this shifter was from an 05' Z and that's what changed.

BTW Keith, I'll take your shifter. Sent you a PM

If you had a white plastic piece under it, it's the wrong one, you need the blue plastic piece, that's why it doesn't fit your car.

Yeah, I've got the white plastic piece under. What blue plastic piece, can you post pics?

Let me show you pics of my 03' and Keith's 04'. The only difference I see is the white clips on the outside:

My 03' Shifter:

I'll take mine apart and get some pics for ya. The white clip only fits under the '03's since it has a large opening. The blue clip is narrower. The dealer should have one, if you tell them. The problem is they made both parts the same part number.

Brilliant job Infiniti!!!

Thanks, I appreciate it. Performance Nissan says that "slight modification" is required to get the shifter working on the 03. At the two top pics, do you think the 04 shifter will fit the 03?

wick,
Sorry for the delayed response, you're right they are different. Try calling Performance Nissan regarding the blue insert/clip for the '03. They have always been very helpful. With the blue insert the 350Z oem **** might fit.

It's the truth. I bought a Coupe 5AT **** and my white piece on my 04 Sedan didn't fit it. The Blue piece is a necessity, but NO local dealers had em, so I ordered from everythingg35.com. The part # is : 34951-CG000

With it, the coupe **** went on perfect!

Can you link me directly to the part off their site? Thanks

unfortunately, they don't list it. It's one of the parts you have to call in to order, or you can ask you local nissan deale to order it. I can almost guarantee none of them have it in stock since its not something people tend to order frequently.

Alright so let me get this straight... You pull out the white plastic piece inside the shifter and replace it with a blue one with the right teeth configurations to go over your shifter?
