That is correct, sorry I haven't gotten pics up yet, can't find my camera after a long night out.

I just got an 04 AT Z **** with a blue insert and it will not fit my 03.5 sedan

It fits onto the tranny shaft and engages the button properly but the little metal "U" clip will not pop into place.

The 350z **** sits about 1/8" higher than the original ****.

I could either grind two slots onto the metal tranny shaft (ouch) or I could cut two new slots slightly lower into the white plastic base of the ****.

Is this the "slight modification" they were talking about?

Am I the first person to do this combination of parts?

I had the same exact problem after I installed Keith's **** (04 G35c ****). What I did was pound the blue clip with my hand so it goes all the way in tight. I put the **** about 90 percent down and then the U clip went on. Now it operates normally.

Yes that is the slight modification you would need to do to have it fit perfect.

ok pound the blue clip or bust out the dremel tool...

Which part should I cut? I'm concered if I re-slot the white plastic piece the metal clip will be too low and might keep the silver bottom cover from be able to pop on all the way...

OK, I'm a little lost at what's different here...is there an actual difference between the G35 and 350Z AT shifters (shift button on front instead of side) after 2004? Is the difference just the plastic piece? Does the plastic piece pop out? I have the white plastic piece which resembles the 2004 pic...is that from a G35 or 350Z? Do I just remove (pull out?) the white piece and push in a n blue plastic piece to make it work on a 2003 G35 AT?

It seems to me, based on the photos provided by wickedg35, the difference is that the 2004 piece has a rectangular notch instead of the circular notch as in the 2003 (confirmed with my 2003 AT ****). Has anyone just dremeled the notch to make it circular? Is there another thread somewhere that talks about this switch?

followup question: is the blue plastic piece to allow it to fit on a 2003 sedan or coupe?
