JDM Battery Cover Install
JDM Battery Cover Install
okay. i just got the JDM battery cover and was installing on my G.
first off. i see that there are four clips and one bracket that come with the cover. if you place the cover over the slot you automatically see where one of the clips go. (bottom right side?).
as for the other three clips. ???
im assumiing one would go at the top right. but a hole would have to be drilled into where the hole lines up with.
im also assuming the the lower left hole would be where the bracket needs to be drilled into the firewall.
but what do you do with the upper right hole? does it not attach to anything?
if anyone could help me out. that would be wonderful. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
edit:
OH YEAH... this is the cover that is pre-modified by GRUBBS.

I bought one... but I didn't need to drill anything... you most have got the other version... I believe... way back when... there was the one that needed to be drilled and the other that didn't...
hmmm could u explain how it was modified. or what it looked like when you got it. the Grubbs one looked like they just cut off a piece of it. so that it sits within the firewalls. Who else got GRUBBS?
any pictures of what your JDM battery looks like PRE-INSTALL?

i just got one from grubbs, like u said, only one rivet actually goes in, the other three just sit there with nothing, the only complaint i have is the fact that along the firewall in the front it doenst line up perfect so i cant get the moulding over both of them.
Yea I had the same problem as well, which I bought from GRUBBS also. I ended up drilling an new hole into the black plastic (right below the driver's windshield wiper) to secure the new battery cover down. And your also right about the moulding, your only going to get the front strip moulding to secure down over the plastic and metal trim/lip of the car, I just smashed the back moulding between the metal and plastic (understand?). Anyways, seems to be secured, hasn't moved yet... And as far as the white plastic L-bracket which was including with the package, not even sure where the hell that goes either. GOOD LUCK.
I think because the GRUBBS battery cover did not come with any directions, alot of people are kinda confused how to install it "properly". I think your going to find that because people think different, your going to get many different advices or approaches on how to install it. If your like me, I brain storm on this project for about 30 minutes then actually install time was about 5 minutes. If nbp78415 can take some PICS of before install, then I'll snap a few PICS of my own install and afterwards maybe we can combine the two to help out some other members who has the GRUBBS batt. cover. (look for some PICS this weekend)
The white platic bracket goes into the steel plate closest to the intake tube.
You need to measure mark and dill the holes for it.
If you look at the factory battery cover, you see the 2 white nipples from that bracket poking through the steel plate (mirror image of the holes you are about to drill)
I needed to remove my intake tube to drill these holes, nicely.
I do have 2 holes in the cover that have nothing to hod on to( closest to the windshield). I just put the mounting clips into them, even though they don't secure the cover to anything.
