Wing or no Wing?
My D/G Coupe is coming without wing because A/T and at first I thought good - it looks better without. Now I'm not so sure. Any opinions on the car with & w/o would help me decide either on aftermarket or dealer installed. Anyone have 'guestimate' of cost for either? Thanx

Re: Wing or no Wing?
My car had a dealer-installed spoiler when I bought it. After looking at a few cars with and without I decided it definitely looks better with one, especially on the black cars. A couple of people have said while admiring my car that the spoiler really adds to the appearance. I'm not sure it is worth the $695 my dealer charged me for it. One minor drawback: The added weight will keep your trunk lid from lifting on its own.

Thanks for the input. $695 is a bit steep but is paled by what I spent on winter wheels and rubber($2100) Maybe Santa can help........
dbreeze, when they installed the wing, did they disable (or take out) the 3rd brake lite in the back window? I'm assuming that there is a 3rd brake lite in the wing, right?

Maybe it's me, but I have a hard time justifying an aftermarket wing on a new car. Makes my blood run cold thinking that someone is going to take a drill to my nice new shiny trunk. Even if is aluminum.
The first question I asked when I picked the options for my sedan, "Is the wing installed at the factory or at the port?"

Merlin, now that you put it that way, I see what you mean. I've read elsewhere about the aluminum trunklid...is it so? What about wiring for 3rd brake lite?
Jng35- thanks for the leed on www.spoilerdepot.com .

spoiler depot.
i was thinkin of geting a spoiler from them but i wasn't sure if the paint would match correctly. but since you got it already, does the paint match the factory paint well?

Gsedanman,
I believe, I read somewhere that the hood and the trunk are both aluminum, I tried a magnet on the hood but not the trunk and the hood is alum. But if you do decide to go with a brake light in the aftermarket wing (the oem uses led and not bulbs) I would splice/cut into the wiring to the existing 3rd and use that as the hook up. Food for thought tho, the more lights back there for those blind drivers, the less likelyhood of a rear ender.

True enough about the lights in the rear- Can't have enough, right?. I hadn't thought about the LED's in the OEM unit. that would be a big factor in a purchase. Someone also thought that the aerodynamics wouldn't be as good as OEM. I don't think that would matter so much at low speeds. I'll probably go original anyway( to keep it pure) Thanks for the input.

And the standard lights are BRIGHT already. You would have to be totally zoned out to miss our brake lights. I though Volvos had the brightest brake lights until the "Gs" came out. Unique and bright! Way to go!

That's a point too. I'm used to having a spoiler back there to judge with. I think I'm gonna miss it with the Coupe. I'll have to get one for sure now! Thanx

Re: Wing or no Wing?
gsedanman, when I had my wing installed in Chicago they didn't disable the rear brake light on the interrior. From the rear, you can't tell it's on unless you're in a truck or something that rides high as the spolier really covers it.

Re: Wing or no Wing?
Hey G35Ctrl, Did the dealer install your wing for you? Did they do a good job? Was it OEM or aftermarket? How much $? Was the wiring already there for the new wing? I'm not worried about the lights in the window- probably safer with more than less anyway. Thanx for the input. Wish I had my Coupe...........Gsedanman-Garnet Fire Sedan('till Jan)
