Talking 14000K just installed...

Hi People,

By now everyone knows our stock reflector bulb/headlight set up is pathetically engineered, as they point to the sky and the bulbs are on the weak side of the xenon scale. I just installed 14000K for my headlights(not so good move), and PIAA super LED white wedge bulbs for my clear corners and "strip light"( good move). While I realized the output in lumens of the 14000K bulbs would be diminished, and the purplish hue very cool, I was wondering how I can bump up the light output/intensity. Is there an aftermarket HID ballast more powerful than our stock unit, and would it greatly affect the 14000K bulbs? It looks sick right now, like a blacklight at night, but the output is pretty weak. Please let me know your ideas. Thanks.

PS. I saw a white G with ridiculously bright purple/pink headlights at night... what the hell did he do???? I'm thinking maybe HID fogs with 14000K as well as headlights? The thing was menacing and very unique. That blue xenon looks is way played out.

the higher temp you go, the less light output your gonna get. most people here go w/ either 6000k or 8000k but 14000k is way high IMO. no wonder the light output is sh!tty

Light output is most likely the same as your old ones. The human eye is just not as sensitive to that color temp as it is to colors around 3500-5000K. Adding a higher wattage bulb and ballast most likely will not help much.

Man i feel bad for putting 6k hids on my car, but 14k!? Sorry thats too purple for my tastes. BTW i didnt know the purple look was "IN."

As for your question, a few members have put changed their Fog light H4's out to H4 HID's. thats the only way to make it crazy bright. I beleive the member Alan has done it.

A 50W ballast shouldnt change the Kelvin color or lumen output

Thats a derivative of the gas inside the bulb, pressure of said gas I believe, arcing filament, etc etc

14000K should be a lot like a black light - you could have a 500W blacklight and still not illuminate well with it. That so high up in the spectrum barely any of the light is usable for us (humans) I bet it looks amazing though!

Great for a show car, but please don't endanger yours (and everyone else around you) life by driving with them on the street - swap em out for shows but put in a bulb you can see with on the street

I have 4700K HID's in my car, and the light output is far superior to almost every HID Bulb I have seen - Its not as pretty/bling bling as the blue lights, but put out more usable light and makes me safer (and faster) driving at night
