Kinetix Cats Installed... and please note...

Ok I have my Kinetix Hi-Flow Cat installed... and it sounded awesome with my borla... Still have to install the Kinetix PLenum....

But my installer hit a snag with the cat... there is a cat plate that hold the 2 cats together, it cannot screw together with the 2 cats since the screw opening is too wide apart... my installer just have to make the opening a little big... not a big deal but anyone who is going to get the kinetix cat should know about it... I wish I had my camera at the shop...

I can't wait to have the plenum installed... once it is installed, I will record some clips for you guys =)

Congrats on the cats. I had the same issue on the mouting bracket. My installer did exactly the same thing like yours.

And yeah, Borla + Kinetix cats =

Here are a couple of vids from cryhavok's ride.

cryhavok has the exact setup as I do except for the cats. He's got the R/T cats instead, but I wouldn't think there are much sound difference between the Kinetix and the R/T. My G sounds just like his .

Is it necessary to have a shop install the cats? Or is it possible for a do-it-yourselfer?

Since it is quite hard to remove the stock cat and you will need to work underneath the car...

Re: Kinetix Cats Installed... and please note...

I paid $34.75 this Saturday to have the RT high flow cats installed. I got to watch the entire install from beginning to end. The only "hard" part was getting to the bolts where the cat meets up with the header on the drivers side. There is all kinds of stuff in the way to get an air gun up in there. Also, with the RT Cats, there was no need to modify anything. No cutting or opening up anything, just needed to perform the install.

As far as a diy, I'd say it depends. If you really are the type of person that would take 2-3 hours to do this job yourself (come hell or high water) then go ahead. After seeing the install, I personally would not want to be laying on the garage floor trying to do it. The Y-Pipe is a different story though. Easy access and an easy DIY, but the cats are at least a degree more difficult.

Re: Kinetix Cats Installed... and please note...

My installer ran into the same thing with the R/T cats. Instead of making the holes bigger, he bent the bracket using the extreme weight of the lift. Basically he let the lift come down on the bracket, which squeezed it a little closer.

Re: Kinetix Cats Installed... and please note...

Is the "cat plate" a gold U-shaped bar that attaches by 2 bolts to the car and 1 bolt (on each end) that attaches to the welded on arm of the cat? If so, my installer just loosley attached the two bolts holding the part to the car, and then attached each end of the U-shaped bar to the cats. No opening up slots or anything needed... hmmmm...
