body shop and lost valuables

when you guys take your cars to the body shop to get a kit put on or whatever, do you take all your valuables out such as your amps, subwoofer, or do you leave em in there?

I'm worried and really don't trust anyone these days, leaving my car at the shop for 1-2 wks to get some body work done.

I know there's no way to lock the trunk, there's always a way if they needed to go in... So for those who have expensive systems and equipment, what do you guys do?

If you have to worry about your sub and amp and so fourth from being ripped off at your body shop, find another place! Stuff like loose change, sunglasses, EZpass, CD's and other misc items, I wouldn't leave in my car, but to think (or even have the gut feeling that brought you here to this post) your whole sound system is unsafe, well that's a problem....

When you drop your car off, let them know you have a sound system and go ahead and show them. Even though most shops have signs and are not responsible for theft of such items, no shop owner wants an angry customer, because sign or not, its still a problem he's going to have to deal with. So if they know they have a car with some pricey stuff in or on it, they'll keep a close eye on it...

yeah... sounds like that... the shops should always be accountable... because it's already part of the car...

what he said - if I ever felt like I needed to worry about it, then it's time to find a new shop.

Take pix of your car BEFORE you bring it to the shop just to show that it was in mint condition when you brought it in... you can never be too safe!!

Also ... ^^ What Ducatiguy said ^^
