I've had aftermarket urethane bumpers before and i've hit a lot of things including curbs that completely bent the lip. It just bounced back in place.. The paint was obviously scratched but was not chipping off because FLEX AGENTS were added prior to painting. Therefore the paint flexed very well with Urethane.
If you were to perform a durability test and have both bumpers materials hit a wall at 5mph i'm sure urethane will not crack like fiberglass. It'll just mar the paint.
Weight? my g35 oem front bumper weights a LOT less than my authentic greddy bumper.

BECAUSE YOUR OEM BUMPER IS NOT URETHANE!!!! OEM uses a mixture of different materials. Your trash can is made of Urethane, as well as the sealant on your wood floors.
There are reasons why japanese don't use urethane. Stillen is imported in japan, all stillen is urethane. Guess what, it doesnt sell there. why? Because it's urethane. In Japan car people are more DIY, they will repair fiberglass themselves. it is heavier, and requires more bracing to keep from sagging. traditionally a body kit in japan is considered a final step of a total tuning progress, ie you go widebody to fit wider rubber under your car, to take advantage of your motor modifications. To handle hte motor modifications suspension and tranny has also been modified. Finally when you need to lighten up the car you get a body kit.
I know this because i've been working for a japanese tuning company the last 6 years. The japanese just dont understand the US way of modifying cars. It's a culture thing. One way is not better than the other.
As for Hamman...i've seen their stuff, and it is inferior to japanese parts. I have a BMW, I paid $2200 for a cat back exhaust from AC Schnitzer. its not even stainless steel, and its got rolled edges.
Don't even get me started on fiberglass out of Germany...i've seen better stuff outta China than what the germans put on the market for way expensive prices.
Also the reason a lot of the german companies use ABS, Urethane or other Rubber type materials is because of TUV (their road legal stuff)
