Headlight Aiming "Screw"in my Projector Retro

So I am rounding home plate on my projector retro project and I have one thing that is absolutely killing me. The stock headlight aiming screw is absolutely horrible. It strips WAY to easily and stops working. I am to the point where I have to aim things by manually turning the wheel (I removed the cover that shields the two teethed wheels). I also dremeled a slit on the other end of the bolt to allow adjustment with a flat head.

The only problem with these methods is that it will be unadjustable once the headlight is resealed/mounted in my car. This would make fine tuning impossible. Have any of you retrofitters figured a trick to using the stock aiming bolt?
