Trunk Broken/Bent

Team I have a problem and I don't know what to do. The other day, I was putting my laundry in my trunk and it didn't quite fit. I gave it a little push on the spoiler (stupid I know, but not enought to bend the spoiler), but the stuff still didn't fit. Later, when I closed the trunk I realized on the driver's side it wasn't sitting flush. I then took it to a body shop and there's a little dent in on the pillar on the driver's side of the trunk and that's why it won't close.

The body shop says that I might just file a comprehensive claim with my insurance company, but does anyone have any other suggestions? Any way to make the dealer pay for such a freak accident?

Thanks in advance,
Kareem

Sorry to hear of your "accident", but you should suck it up and have it fixed at your expense.
I doubt any dealer will accept any responsibility, and an insurance claim would cost you more in the long run.

Talk to a reputable body shop for an estimate on repairs, and G/L.

you can probably buy the pillar on ebay or the net. Can't be that expensive. Also, I doubt it is all that hard to DIY.

Sort of off-topic: What exactly was your laundry made of, that it would bend a metal pillar?!

Anyways, I would DIY if possible. If you also need a trunk, maybe you should go CF? At least that'll just shatter instead of bend in the face of heavy duty laundry hauling. It absorbs more force that way, dontchaknow.

good luck to yar

LOL, you guys are nuts. I don't know how laundry bent it. The only real heavy duty laundry I have is that steel chastidy belt I took off of your daughter .

Seriously though, I am a law student, so I'm not real keen on paying for this, especially when I can't understand how it happened, but I'll check all options.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Best,
KJS

Fixed it myself by simply bending it back. Gotta love free stuff.
