Skyline / 350GT emblems are on!
Re: Skyline / 350GT emblems are on!
yea so havin the Skyline badge on or the Nissan Emblem on OR the 350GT badge on, it's a very reasonable thing to do consider it is the same car. it's just for G35C owners to put tha extra JDM touch/look to their beloved cars

Mygunit,
The car originally call Skyline 350gt in japan. It actually have a Nissan label on it. When it arrive, Nissan decided to rebadge it with Infiniti G35 instead. So i don't think it was any maipulation or if any, want to look original name originate in Japan.

jus like what g35mt said.. it's not manipulating it.. it's not like ferrari was put on there, like you suggested.. just let people have their own tastes.. some people like the JDM feel, some don't.. simple as that..

Yeah, if you want to be technical, the car is "rebadged" as an Infiniti G35 in Japan, when in fact it is a Nissan Skyline 350GT.

I don't know, there are multiple levels of posing going on here. I don't think this re-badging craze would being going on if the car was called the Nissan ___tima in Japan. It's only because it has the Skyline name. And in that respect, it's a poser badge in Japan because the G35/Skyline has nothing in common with previous cars that bore the Skyline badge, especially the most famous models. Sort of like how the new Pontiac GTO has nothing in common with the original GTO, except that at least the power is going to the same wheels in that case.
Then again, the alternative is Infiniti badges, which are a bit of a charade themselves. I just don't think this would be going on if it was the Nissan Jonathan in Japan (cousin of Silvia, Cedric and Gloria). Nobody in Japan would confuse this car with a Skyline if they'd called it anything else.

The thing they all have in common is they were all made my Nissan Motor Corp... who cares if they don't look alike or share common parts... so if you look at the entire Z or Fairlady line do they all look the same or have parts or technology in common? Not necessarily... are they all still Z's or Fairlady's... yes.
I wouldn't rebadge my coupe... it's kinda goofy in my opinion... I thought it would be fun at first, because this car carries on the Skyline name in Japan... but who really cares about that... "kids" who play Gran Turismo maybe... The only way I'd do it is if I could change the badges, the wheel caps, remove the Infiniti clock, replace the steering wheel and undo the Infiniti embroidery on the seats... but why go to all that trouble to sport the Nissan logo? Whatever... it's a Nissan in Japan... it's marketed and sold under the Infiniti name here... why not just leave it at that.

Re: Skyline / 350GT emblems are on!
I can see the conversation now...
Nice car, I'm gonna go to Nissan and test drive one.
You can't go to Nissan you have to go to Infiniti
But it says Nissan on the trunk
Yeh but it's an infiniti
Okay so I'll got to Infiniti and test drive the Skyline 350gt
You Can't it's not a Skyline 350gt
It's not? But it says Skyline 350 gt on the trunk
I know what it says damn it! But it's an Infiniti G35 Not a Nissan Skyline
LOL
Don't get me wrong I think anything that sets you apart from everyone else is great. I was thinking about doing it myself but instead I went for the clean look and took them off. If you paid 35 large for your car, you have the right to do what ever you want.

NOTLOWNF,
what you have been saying is just like "is RSX an Integra?" or "is 350Z a Fairlady Z" or "is a IS300 an altezza", The answer is clearly yes.... It's just like a Japanese immigrant with a Japanese name called let's say Sakura, and then he has a english name called George, so is this guy Sakura or George? Even he's in US, his friends might still called him Sakura, there is nothing wrong with that! And obviously some ppl in Japan may call him George too! so George is Sakura? Definetely yes, so can you call him Sakura in US? why not?!!! As long as it's the same person, and it's the same car!!!
If you like your car to be stock, that's fine with everyone, it's your car and your choice... but someone try to use his Japanese name in US and take the pride of the Skyline (which is much well-known by ppl all over the world), nothing wrong with that either! what you have been saying is, any G35 that is slightly modded (such as clear corner, fog light) is not a G35 anymore because you can't test the "exactly the same car" in the dealership, so next time if you see a G35 with clearcorner with any other modded, you better tell your friend, hey! that's not a g35! because you can't test drive a g35 with that kind of mod in the dealership!!!

Re: Skyline / 350GT emblems are on!
neohh-
I'm not sure if your agreeing with me or hammering me. I was just trying to be funny.
My take on the whole thing is that it's your car. Do whatever YOU want to it. Who cares if other people don't like it. I'll be damned if I do something to my car because someone else likes it. I don't care if my car makes other people happy. I bought it for me.
I thought long and hard about putting Skyline badges on my coupe. The only reason I didn't is because I like it better with no badges. If my car had badges they would be Skyline badges
I don't like it when a car has a numeric designation, it's like it doesn't have a soul.( Yes I know Ferrari's have souls) But I like Altezza better than IS300 and I like Integra better than RSX and most of all I like Skyline more than G35. Does that make me a bad person? Maybe it does.
And just for the record my Indian name is Runs With Scissors.
