the thing with CF hoods and the reason people use hoodpins with them is this...

with an aluminum hood, the latch is either welded or bolted into the metal hood. with CF the latch is held on by resin, so there is always a small chance that the latch can separate from the hood itself and it could fly up

hood pins are bolted to the front radiator support and then go thru the CF hood

ditto, mine (the resin) is starting to crack a little bit near the latch, who knows when it might crack all the way thru and off the hood goes.

Agreed, they look horrible. But you should do it, so my car looks better.
