is that what people use for instance when they drive for long distances and they dont want bugs or tar on their front bumper and headlights? are they easily removable?or will they damage a freshly done paint job?

depends on which kind of tape you are looking for. the kind of tape that is used to put on masking paper is regular painters tape, or even just masking tape. but, the tape used for edging that you see on shows like overhaulin (the kind used to separate basecoat colors) is a fine edge "plastic" tape that has less tackiness to it. you can pick this tape up at a bodyshop supplier. look it up in the yellow pages. example in MD MARYT'S PAINT AND SUPPLY, HOUSE OF KOLOR, ETC..

if i were you, drive very carefully for the next thirty days...don't follow anyone too close, and make sure to wipe any bugs off as soon as you see them. take the car back to where you had the bumper painted, and get them to touch up any chips, and do a once over with a buffer and cleaner wax. after that, go get your front coverd with the new 3m clear adhesive front end paint protector.

there are several manufacturers, but your infiniti dealer, paint shop, tint shop will be familiar with this product. it is a clear cover that is applied to your bumper, front of your hood, your headlights, mirrors, and a pillar--or any combination of the aforementioned. search for post here about it. there a lots of string regarding this.
