Question Removing trunk lid lining

How would I remove the trunk lid lining? I want to see what is behind it so I can try to find a good place to attach a trunk close strap (something that i can pull to throw the trunk closed, like on my GFs eclipse). I'm tired of having to fingerprint up my trunk to close it.

I looked at it and it seems to be held on by numerous black circles which I guess are clips or something? I don't want to break them so if someone knows how to take them off properly please share

Thanks!

thats correct. as you look at the " little black circles" , youll see a little slot. use a small regular screwdriver, and pop the two halfs apart, then they whole clip will come out. do this on all of the clips you see, and you should be all set. however, keep in mind what you are attempting. the liner youre talking about isnt really the most durable. by attatching a pullhanle to it, you may find yourself buying a new liner, because this one may rip. ..or you may find a spot of steel that may offer a better landing point.

Just use the emblem to close the trunk, unless you debadged it

Yeah, What I'm trying to do is take the lining off to see what's behind it. That way I can attach something to THAT (through a loop or maybe even a hole that i make), cut a slot in the liner to pass it through, and pull on the steel.. not liner

With the liner there I have no idea what my options are..

Thanks for the info on how to remove the clips!

BTW the sedan has a built-in trunk closing handle in the inside of the trunk that works perfectly... i guess they figure us coupe owners don't use the trunk.

Geez, and my friends think I'm a bit too "particular".

Cheers,
