Tint on a Silver Coupe
Tint on a Silver Coupe
I used to have limo tint (5%), it was on the car when I bought it. It was quite deadly in the dark, so I stripped it off and want to choose between a legal 35-50% black or LLumar legal reflective.
I have the LLumar on a another car, and it's easy to see out of, but hard to see into the car. In some light, it is dark gray, in bright sunlight it becomes silver. Not sure if I want all that silver on a silver car with a large black B-Pillar between front and rear windows.
Interior is black btw, so that will make 50% a safe choice. Also, is there a factory tint on the glass that will offset 35% tint and make it illegal?

Speaking of tints...I myself have never had any window tint in any of my vehicles. Question: How do they get it so damn perfect? Do they remove your interior door panels to completely cover all the side glass? And what about the rest of the glass? How do they make it look like it hasnt been trimmed? Or is there always evidence of it having been trimmed? And how well does it hold up over time?

Haven't had any tinting done either, but I'd like to.
Not too sure how they get all the way to the bottom of the window, but I don't think they actually take the door panels off (hopefully). As for the outer edges, I think they just use a razor blade to trim the tint.

Here is my Brilliant Silver G with regular smoke tint ... def illegal in KS, but I have found it perfect to my tastes. 50% windshield, 20% side windows and back window, 15% on the little side windows.
I know many think tint on the windshield is an instant ticket, but its my 3rd car with it on and no tickets for the windshield being tinted, despite being pulled over multiple times for various reasons. I have gotten a ticket for the sides being too dark, but they never questioned or looked at the front. The windshield tint is great for glare. However, I do live in KS and I know its not as strict as some states. KS law is 35% all around.

I have 20% all around, less the windshield. (35% is the law on the driver and passenger but not an isue to date) I simply love it. I really appreciate no tint on the car from the factory. It enables you to do what you like w/o having to match the factory tint on the rear.
Kmachine, Is 50% on the front too dark at night. I called my tint shop & they #1 don't "recommend" tint on the front
. #2 if I were to tint the front, they "recommend" I go with 75%. Tinting the front looks so sick.
Oh yeah, why did you tint the quarter glass darker than the rest?

As far as the quarter windows being darker ... 20% and 15% is not much of a difference, and it just makes the interior a slightly darker, which makes them look more like limo-tint, but does not impair side view vision at night. You really can't tell, ppl just assume its b/c the windows are so much smaller than the main ones and they let in less light.
