Ripping off Side-Moldings.

Today i noticed a problem with my trunk paint, had it repainted due to a ding, the painted said it came out like that cause it badge's where there....now, he said to take the badges off and come on sat to paint, so while im doing this and im rubbing off the sticky glue, i took a chunk of my clearcoat with me.....im like WTF? so i just left it, since he has to sand it down before painting anyway...

Now, is it cause of the week old paint? I want to take off my side moldings, but im scared ill rip off clear coat with it, or even worse...my paint....

Should i take it too the dealer and have them do it since they put it on there? Im wondering if anyone has had some similar problems.

i used a hairdryer and my side mouldings came off.. took a long time though. Id say u get to remove 1 inch for every couple min of heating.. have fun It wont ruin your paint unless u force that crap off.

I used a heat gun to take off my side mouldings. I started by one end corner heating it up which took about 2 minutes to get hot and then slipped a credit card in the corner enough for me to get my fingers a hold of and then just ripped the whole thing off like that. I did not even need to heat the rest up it came off that easy and was that easy. Under it was glue left behind so I used some goo gone and it came off at the snap of the finger. The whole process for both sides took me about a total of 25-30 minutes. I took off both door mouldings in about 4 minutes.

HAHA! That is to funny. Its ridiculous how much they overprice the smallest things. You can do this yourself in about 25-30 minutes. Extremely easy if you have a heat gun and some goo gone and your set. Good Luck.

My Twlight blue is over 2 years old. If I take the BSM off will I notice that they were there from the other painting being faded?
