spray on clear paint protector

Has anyone checked this out or have any experience with this product?www.armorcoat.armorauto.com
Here in the gravel pit of America after 25K miles my front bumper has been sandblasted to a point that I need to get it and my splash guards resprayed. Even the OEM 19" wheels have damage. A buddy of mine that owns a body shop just read about this product but has not applied it to a vehicle yet. He has installed the 3M films on several vehicles but feels this may be a better choice. Any advice?

The temporary paint doesn't protect your car from chips. The permanent version is like adding another layer of clearcoat to your paint. I don't see how you can apply the permanent version yourself though without it looking like ***. A clear bra will save you from rock chips but again, it's not 100% invisible. If anything, I'd get a clear bra or simply drive at a greater following distance. Rock chips are inevitable. I have some in the weirdest places in the upper quarter panels that my clear bra simply can't protect.

I wonder how easy it comes off, if it's not bothered by rain etc.

JMO, FWIW......

This could have a lot of potential... but;

They really don't do a proper comparison to film, with respect to level of protection.
Also, I'd have to see it first to confirm the optic quallity... (orange peel, clarity????)

I noticed in the sample pics, they taped off the front of the hood.
If this was good optically, why not do the whole hood & avoid the line accross?
What about yellowing with age.... it hasn't been on the market long enough to know.
Remember how the early films yellowed

The only references I find using WebFerret to search the web are published by the manufacturer. Didn't see any independent reviews.

thanks guys for your input........
It would be applied by a professional, but I am concerned since there isn't a track record to check on. I do keep distance from the gravel trucks, it's the gravel that falls from the trucks over time and gets thrown up by other vehicles. I'll keep you posted if I get it done.

I'm thinking about having the Armcoat sprayed on my hood. The local Infiniti dealership has been applying this method on the G37s and sounds optimistic about it's success against stone chips. My bumper has a clear bra and i need something for my hood. Anyone out there with any additional feedback?

I've seen the video and also found some feedback on different car forums (Corvette, Mercedes, Subaru, etc). I have not heard anything negative about this process. The other advantages are: no visible edge on hood, and no torn plastic after road debris.
