To take the chrome piece off the AT shift boot you'll have to remove the shifter console, then turn the boot inside out and remove that clip you see pictured.

Ok, maybe a dumb question but what are the steps to take off the AT shift boot without breaking anything?
Thanks!

I was able to remove it without removing boot. It was a pain, but there's a metal wire clip that holds them together. I had to pry it out. Removing the boot would probably be better.

I am going to attempt to install an AEM shift **** tomorrow. Are there any sweets spots that will make life a little easier when taking off the shifter console? I tried to pry it up but felt like I may not be doing it right. Are any tools needed?

Thanks so much for your help!

2006 automatic shift **** question

Hi, I have a 2006 infiniti g35 coupe. I want to replace the old automatic shift **** with a new one. What I'm planning on doing is getting an 8 ball. The problem is, the locking button on the shift ****. So my idea was to cut a hole into the ball and put a button in there. Have y'all ever seen anything like this or any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I personally haven't seen it done, but the actuating rod just comes straight up so I don't think it would be too difficult. Sorry, I have no more insight than that.

Why go thru all that trouble when I have a Momo Auto Shift **** for sale that'll work perfectly!

Ok, I talked to a infiniti parts worker and he said that there is a blue plastic peice in the shift **** that needs to be pressed down in order to unlock the shifter. So as long as I have something for that then I'm good
