cubby removal

I need to remove it to drill a whole in it so i can wire my Apexi Neo into the spot. I'm mounting it to the bottom side of the door so its hidden. I just don't want to drill a hole into my head unit. Anybody have a DIY on taking apart the dash?

YOU have to search for where I came up with the thread that had instructions. It took me about 20 minutes to search and find, but it did not require a new thread asking. just search for it. it is very complex and you do not want to skip steps or you will damage things.

It actaully is NOT that hard or complicated. And i can swear the cubby is attached. I mounted my monitor where the stock monitor goes.
There are directions floating on the forum and the web about the removal. I'd say it's a 1hr job if everything goes as planned.

^ya i didnt find it that difficult to do I'll try to explain what i remember........
I have an AT idk if its any different. first slide the boot of the shifter down and there is a clip that u have to take off to take the *** off. then u have to pop the plate of the shifter off by using a screwdriver or something to pop the side by the console up and it slides out. then there is 1 screw on each side that holds the side trims of the radio, then they just pop out. now there is about 2-4 screws at the bottom front of the radio, then 1 on each side of the top under the side trims u just took out. now u have to take the trim around the clock of by poping the bottom of it up first and it should pop right off. then there is one more screw under the clock that holds the radio in. then it should just slide out with the cubby attached.....good luck did i miss anything?

Forget removing the cubby, just access the sides of it by removing the interior trim panel (pick your side) that runs up along it and to the dash. I removed that and drilled a hole in the lower side (facing passenger, next to glovebox) for my satellite unit's wires. VERY CLEAN install! Worth the effort of removing those panels... ...which I think you'd have to do anyway to remove the Nav cubby.

ya and its only a couple more screws after that to get the whole thing out and its easier to run the wires behind the radio theres more space i found that the side trims didnt clip on as clean with a wire in there.

When i hear people say 'remove the cubby' i think you are saying ONLY the piece where the nav goes. If you consider the cubby the entire cd player, the entire plastic trim that has all the buttons, then YES the CUBBY is removable.
I drilled into the lower back right hand side if you are looking at the monitor. I figured that way you would never see the wires and it seems invisible to anyone ever looking.
If i happen to find the link i'll post it. I did a search on here so why not try the same?....if i stuble across it i'll post
