Has anyone checked a wiring schematic to see if it's possible to control the REV light in the dash cluster from the wiring harness? (Not the flashing rev limiter light, but the light that illuminates the REV lettering.)

I was thinking of just pulling the bulb, but then when driving a loaner 5AT that has the gear displayed there, I thought it would be a neat idea to connect the REV light to the reverse lighting circuit so it only lights when the car is in reverse. My wife rarely drives my car and forgets to push down when shifting into reverse and inevitably finds 6th instead, so it would actually be a functional change.

Seemed like a neat mod, and something that might have occured to someone else already. Any ideas if this would work?
