New G35 Owner-Having window motor fun already!

Hello,

Funny story. I just bought used 2003 G35 coupe with only 17,000 miles on it. In the paperwork I can see orig. owner already had driver window motor replaced. Now, passenger motor is dying/99% dead. Well, I called local dealer today and got voicemail. 1 hour later I was driving and a guy in the exact same G35 as mine pulls up next to me and says "nice car". I asked if he had window motor problems yet. He said he was actually just driving back from dealer as we spoke! And, he had 3 motors replaced already. I haven't seen anything about a recall, but this is B.S. I have seen many threads on this. Looks like I should pay around $175 for part. Any advice on installation?

I thought Japanese cars were super reliable! This is why I sold my Audi

It doesn't hurt to put up a stink as the part was probably never superceded and is known to be defective. Talk to Service manager. Chances are that if we have these cars long enough we will be replacing the motors more than once.

I have a similar experience.. bought my 07 and a week after i was hearing some grinding noise on my rear window.. took it to the dealer and found out it was my window regulator.. they ordered the part and it will be in next week so hopefully nothing comes up after this for a while..

Bought mine from an individual who is moving out of country. Pep Boys and dealer say they have to do a "dianostic" check first. I told them I just want the window motor/regulator installed. Neither would do it without a diagnostic test. Infiniti dealerships MUST know of this problem. I need to find a local mechanic in Delaware area. If I try to do it, I'll never get the door back together right

Japanese to make great cars. Blame Nissan for going cheap on parts when they decided to buld the G35 and a 35k price range.

My 1996 integra window motor lasted 11+ years and still works.

But I must admit, the G35 does have some issues.
1) Uneven thread wear
2) Window motor going out
3) Sunroof motor failing
4) horrible interior noises, creeks, pops and etc.
5) Clutch clankyness, notchiness, metal clanging sound
6) Not so smooth transmission (6mt)
7) Really bad paint, extremely soft and scratches easily
8) Real axle bolt becomes loose for some stupid reason
9) Rear window makes popping noises (take a good look at the rear window. There is not rubber seal holding it in place.. Looks like its sitting on top of the frame or some shtl.
10) Side windows arent secured. YOu can stick your fingers thru the side opening. wtf kind of design is that?
11) Hood latch becomes stuck, when it does, if you try to close you hood, you will receive a nice DENTon the hood/fender

lol it always seems like when another member posts up one of their problems you have to put down ALL of yours! It really seems like you are very unhappy with your G man if you are, just let it go!

I wish I could but i'm still making payments. Also, if I do sell it, I will LOOSE a lot of $$$$$. No one is willing to pay for what I want for it. Plus there are thousands of G's selling for 19k.... WTF is that about?

Is 33k too much to ask for a 2006 fully loaded coupe, 6mt blk on blk, navi, premium, RAS with 7k miles? Emaculate inside and out? I barely drive this car.

A freaking Type R has a better resale value.

Forgot to add:
12) Clutch engages way too late

Well, I do love the car. I just want to know the best way to get this window fixed without paying a fortune. I'll probably do some more searching of the archives when I have time.

Good luck, I love my coupe but our window motors are complete garbage. I am on #3 as we speak and I still have issues with it.

My 2004 G sedan driver window makes a "thunk" when closing about 1 in 20 times. Dealer says "has to do it here" But it wouldn't today. Service writer says "It may be the regulator but not bad enough to fix now". Any advice would be appreciated.

I still haven't tried to fix window, so I can't help you. Cool weather has kept me from bothering with it for now. I am definitely not going to the dealership though.

Just replaced my motor couple weeks ago. I think the pre 04 motors were junk and right around now is when they all start crapping out. Supposively the motor they use now is better, but who knows. I got my motor for $185, but most dealer sells them for like $225-245. Rather simple replacement, dealer wanted 2hrs so i just did it myself.

sounds like an 03 problem. no issues with my 04 yet... although the passenger side window is slow to move that 1/4 inch up after shutting the door, but its been like that for years
