its really easy to change yourself.
i would just try to pick up one from someone that has wrecked their car.
you should be able to get it pretty cheap.

I paid my $100 extended warranty deductible last week and had both window motors and the passenger seat motor replaced.

there is a thread posted on this site that has a detailed break down of cleaning your old window motor. the poster had mixed results. I tried the same thing as him, and mine works perfectly now. there was a large carbon build up on the inner motor. no more holding the button while slamming the door.. good stuff. try to find that thread it will help

Dlr will charge too much for parts - also replace window regulator when you do this. Save 40 pct away from dlr overall - they chg about 6 bills.

Well over a grand worth of work at dealer prices right there, guessing about $1500-1600?

That's BS - seat motors should last a lot longer than that...my drivers side motor is making noise like its on its way out, already did drivers window. Driver's seat also moves a notch or two on its own while driving, like there is a short somewhere. Having the seat move suddenly while under way in a 6MT can really cause problems, not to mention safety issues - when it does this, the seat moves back. Then the seat does not move forward unless the tilt is all the way down - go figure.

Window regulator on my driver's side went bad and was fighting the motor, had to hold the swtich to close the window - do you really need windows that go down partway with the fob, and need a $180 regulator to tell it when it's closed or open? Over-designed, under-engineered.

All my issues are out of warranty now, repair costs on this car for would-be warranty items now over $1500, all interior, seat, windows, bad wiring to the rear brake light (broken wire in the bundle running under the pass side running board). Last one shut down all the braking system, no boost, no ABS or EBD, just because the wire to the wing-mount light broke up by the door. Brakes were marginally effective and IMHO not safe to drive the car. $270 to find and fix the wire, and even then the kick plate wasn't mounted back correctly, I had to fix that myself.

Now the d*%! dash-mounted remote trunk switch is toast, I can only open my trunk with the remote on the key fob. Found that out when I set my keys down in the trunk, shut the lid, said "oh no big deal, just pop the trunk" and the switch no longer worked. Got my other keys, no big deal, but if by some chance they were not available I would have had to go through the rear seat which is not easy. Yes, I did check the Valet setting in the glove box, it was off.

I only have 50k miles on the car, well-maintained, just waiting for the next $500 problem. What's it going to be like in another 50k?

To anyone still under warranty, my strong advice is extend it, that wasn't offered to me and the time passed w/o my noticing it was too late. Would have saved me a lot of money by now.

Anyone know a good source for finding a trunk release switch? Not paying anyone to replace that, no way.
