how to remove shift knob

how to remove shift ****

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to remove the shift know out of a 03 sedan. I tought it screws in but when I tried to twist it it won't move and I'm afraid to break it off.

put a rag or something protective over the ****, then use a pipe wrench or something similar over that and twist counter-clockwise

edit: only if you have a 6MT

If it's a 6MT, a very important step was left out of the above DIY. You must grasp the shift rod under the leather boot with a vise grip and immobilize it when you twist the **** off. Or, you could bend the linkage.

If its an auto, you need to pull down the bottom silver trim ring at the base of the shifter......there is a clip that you need to remove and then the **** will lift right off.
