I'm sure there are vinyl/plastic repair kits available but it would probably be very difficult to get the color correct yourself unless you are experienced. I work for a dealership and we have a local trim shop do all of our dash and seat repairs and in most cases you can never even tell. I would call one of your local shops and see what they charge, though it shouldn't be very much. It's probably worth it to pay a pro on that one.

started as a hairline crack...no idea why.....dealer was not feeling it, and said it must have been someone messing with the dash to do some custom wiring of radar detector or some such junk....it got worse and i just found a guy today who repairs these types of issues. his work is good from what i can tell, and he feels he can make it pretty darn close to new. so friday he is going to do his thing and i will post a photo of the repair. yeah, i was not sure about the kits you can buy over the counter, although i have seen some folks do well, with practice and patience.

thanks for the input.

updated photo of repair.....

if anyone needs this type of service, it was done by musselman vinyl and leather repair, in clearwater. they are mobile and can come to you. i am pleased with the repair, and it looks much better than it did. you have to know it is there to really notice it.

Looks good. I'm sure it was worth it for you to have a pro do it rather than trying it yourself and possibly having it turn out worse than before. Most people probably won't even be able to tell unless they are looking really close and in the right light. You probably feel a lot better too knowing you don't have to get in your car every single day and see it anymore!

yeah it was making me nuts. now i can move on with the other item i want to do.....replace the factory sound system with a new system. i need to find a good price on the DD kit and aluminum trim pieces, because i have to replace the factory wood trim i currently have. any recommendations for a good source for the DD kit and trim pieces would be appreciated.
